My only complaint is that I would like to do PXE boot. Presumably there will be a trial version once the final release comes out. Notice anything missing? When it comes to configuring VMs, the settings interface looks a little more extensive compared to Parallels:. You might notice one thing missing there though: no TPM 2. With any luck, that will be added in the released version. And as with Parallels, performance is just fine; Windows 11 works well.

Looking at the firmware menus, they look quite similar:. Very nice, PXE boot is fully supported by the firmware. The first entry is for IPv4, the second is for IPv6. It supports a little more density than Parallels, with a simple list of VMs on the left and details about those VMs on the right.

But both are equally functional overall. So is there a winner? From my perspective, both work very well. If you want more assistance setting up a new VM, you may like Parallels better.

Then download Windows 10 installation image. Launch Parallels Desktop from the Launchpad on your Mac. Its Installation Assistant opens automatically. Parallels should be able to find the installation images saved on your Mac automatically. Select the Windows 10 installation image file in iso format. Click Continue. In the next screen, give your Windows virtual machine a name and choose a location to save it. Click Continue button again. Then go through the standard Windows 10 installation process: copying Windows files, getting files ready for installation, installing features, finishing up.

When setup is finished, Windows 10 will be running as virtual machine in Parallels. When you quite the Parallels app, you quite the Windows 10; when you want to run Windows 10 on Mac, launch Parallels first, then start Windows 10 in it.
